what cuases wow latency

Might just be that I'm used to crappy pings.

Any ping lower that 1000ms works 100% for me. anything above, no use trying. U usually drift in the 600-900ms mark.

line speed has nothing to do with latency as far as i know

anything over 384 should be fine for wow

someone said if data travelled at light you would get 100ms ping now if is travelling at 0.7% of light then a 400-800ms ping makes sense

Please do the math, I am tired of repeating myself if you are not even willing to read it. 400-800ms might be the satelite traveling time since that is ~40 000km.
and it is 0.7 not 0.7% so infact 70% the speed of light... light would travel about 50ms over 15 000km so ideal world ~80ms pings should be possible.

And I said nothing about line speed or atleast bandwidth capacity. Packet loss was the issue, why does the person with the 24meg conection get such bad pings if he is living so close? That was assuming he plays on WoW europe from the UK. If he is playing from the UK to South Africa then it is a different matter all together, since his data need to travel through the same telkom hubs as ours and through the sat3 cable (or maybe even via satelite depending on his providers agreenment with the countries line providers. He prob will get the same ping on any conction regardless of the bandwidth capacity.

maybe the game he/she plays is a very demanding game IE: graphics ect ect?

Doubt the graphics will do much on ping, unless it uses that much computer resources that the cpu cant handle the load :D (i.e. network card is getting less cpu access, maybe?)
Graphics and CPU restrictions would influence the game performance much faster in that the FPS would droup to below 10 with periodic freezes.
