Its still r20pm month more than telkom's Do(do) offering which has soft capping and "Telkom will charge separately for your standard telephone line rental, voice and fax calls."

^^ i don't get this.

do1 = 384 , 1gb , contract! for that "free" modem , line rental excluded = R279

mweb = 384 , 1gb , free modem, no contract , line rental = R299

how much softcap does telkominternet give on that 1gb account ? last time i checked the 2,3gb accounts have softcaps..1gb - no slack

cheers

Do.co.za includes a free wifi modem if you self install.
You also qualify for a free Wifi modem if you sign a
24-month contract or if you chose to self install the DSL service. Please also note that with a self installation, no DSL installation fee will be charged.

As my earlier reference to mweb's site says - Mweb doesnt include Pots line rental either - none of them do. Both mweb and Do.co.za include the adsl line rental.

IIRC, the modem is network locked. So if they don`t lock you in with a contract, they lock you in with the modem :mad:

stay clear of mweb. they cannot compete on price.

i've have convinced a few people to drop their mweb dialup accounts and switch to cybersmart adsl (as supposed to MWEB adsl)!

"line rental" is ADSL line - not analogue.

The wording is misleading.

I've got the do1 and it's not on a contract basis plus I got a free modem... And I get almost 2gigs out...

No catch in the deal as MWeb deals were crappy before and is crappy today. Stay away - even if they offer "Completely Free ADSL".

thx guys..

its for a friend who wants to ditch his 128k ISDN and up to ADSL..

i shall give him the details on the "where is the catch"

thx

I signed up for do 1 and only got 1GB.... Bonobo confirmed to me after I PMed him that 1GB is 1GB so for this month there is no soft cap... Last month i was able to get just over 2GB on the do1... Lets hope things change for next month... But apparently decisions are made month to month
!

Telkom owns the Broadband in SA. So if they decide to hard cap a little late, they are actually giving themselves a bit of an advantage. Other ISP's dont get that luxury.
But yea, they don't hard cap their DO's all the time. Give you a bit of extra. And if they Hard Cap you at 1GB, you cant complain, coz thats what you supposed to be getting anyway
