What Laptop?

Apple fanboi non facts being spouted  3-4 realistically = bullshyte .....

@marine1 - also not a fan at all of anything Apple.
Lol BS?
battery life of PCs rises from today’s dismal 5 to 6 hours
That’s standard. Heck even Qualcomm only manages around 9-10h.

LG Gram (sold on Amazon.com) are great. They're tough, light, well built and come with two NVME slots and come with 32GB of RAM.

I remember these a couple of years ago. Wonder what support will be like in SA if there are issues under warranty.

No support in SA, probably. But we've had ours for a long time and no issues. Well one, the power adapter cord frayed from bending too much, but it charges via USB type C so one can use any adapter. But if you treat your cords right and don't bend them, it will work well. Currently a 14 inch goes for R29,500 including tax and shipping.

I have bought many laptops from @Flashgear always great service and great laptops.
Have had to use the Dell warranty earlier this year they sent a technician out within 48 hours to fix the issue.

People whining about battery life...pffft. Who needs loooong battery life on a notebook??

Plug it in. There's power literally anywhere.

Get a Dell or Asus with a 3 year ONSITE WARRANTY.

The rest is bells and whistles.

Get an HP with a Ryzen CPU or a Dell with one.

So HP Elitebook or Dell Latitude.

If you're looking 2nd hand you want at least the Intel 11th gen if you go that route. Ram can be increased (via Crucial), and SSD makes the biggest speed difference, so Samsung Evo Plus would be the best (The Pro heats up too much for a laptop and it will shorten battery life also), so the Evo Plus is just fine.

Here we have power outages everywhere.

Then you probably need power to your phone, maybe tablet, maybe portable LTE modem, as well as your laptop:

If you need to fly, then use this: https://www.geewiz.co.za/power-bank...laptop-portable-charger-with-140w-output.html

Or this, little more expensive, but more charging cycles:

If you don't need to fly with it, then this is an option, 5 years warranty, 3000 cycles:

I will never understand why they cant just fix something simple like this, if Apple can do it whay cant Windows machines do it?
I have an extra battery bank. I would recommend to get one rated at at least 100W on a single output and a thick USB C adapter. But it will buy you another couple hours depending on the performance.

There are some Windows laptops that compete with Apple on battery life but don’t maintain their performance on battery.

The MacBooks are really a no-brainer if battery life is your primary concern, unless of course you have specific requirements for Windows software (and gaming).

It's not always true that the performance lasts long in battery mode. It's better than in Windows but you still want to use all performance cores if you want to do something like rendering or editing. My M3 Max heats up, parts of the chassis are very warm to the touch, and fans spin up under moderate loads. That amount of heat will drain the battery, physics. But for spreadsheets and word processing you can probably run a very long time on the efficiency cores and the macbook stays cold with fans off.

Apple controls the software and hardware of things, so they can do this. The next best alternative would be someone like Microsoft and any of their offerings as they are more or less in Apples' position, although they don't design their own CPUs or motherboards, maybe they offer enough input.
