What launcher do you use?

Sheesh. Go Launcher Ex, Apex (currently in use), Trebuchet (not my favourite), and Nemus - which flies.

I can't pick a favourite, and today I found Home Switcher, which allows me to switch launchers at will! :D

So I could not take it anymore. Moved back to GO Launcher.. The extensive features has me hooked.

Initially thought that GO Launcher was contributing to my battery drain, found out though that my modem and my CPU scale up/down "tweaks" (so i thought) was the cause.
Have now moved back to KL1 modem with stock Siyah kernel scale up/down settings, CPU runs at 200-800MHZ with smartassv2 governor. Smooth for everyday use, when I game I bump it to 1200mhz.

I am a happy chappy again ;).

As many launchers as I try, I cant get used to anything but SPB Shell 3D. Go launcher EX and ADW EX are both very cool but SPB is the one for me...

Are these launchers any better than HTC's Sense?

I see many are trying to copy HTC's Sense.
Yes, I don't like Sense. Especially cause I cant change the shortcuts on the bottom dock thingy. (Sense 3.x). Unless Im missing something?? (I'm still new to Sense...)

I installed Go launcher, ADW EX and Zeam launcher on the HTC. Running ADW at the moment but Go looks to be just as good and free...

Well untill I free my Xperia S, I will have to run the same... Just glad it has tablet support else my phone would have really sucked as not many support 1280 x 720 while still looking good.

Do these launches sit on top of Sense?

Sense seems to restart itself if it gets too busy, so I'm inclined to try different launchers as long as they don't sit on top or are limited by Sense.

I don't think so. When I switch back to Sense, it shows something like "Loading Sense" giving me the impression that Sense was no longer in memory... You have nothing to lose, try it.

Sense 4.0 - don't see any reason to faff about with alternatives.

It mirrors your homescreen shortcuts so, no... there's no way to change them directly. You can however dock folders and single shortcuts: I have my satnav and phone functions separate and then Whatsapp, email, SMS & Chrome in one folder and all my camera shortcuts & flashlight in another. I don't need any more flexibility than that... :)

No Sense 4 for me yet. What is there to like about Sense btw? (new to htc, just don't see the point atm.)

I prefer the SE one over Sense. Actually, I prefer almost all of them over Sense.

Not that I use either much, but its Facebook/Twitter integration is very good, as is its ability to combine one's contact info from various sources. I've also grown used to how the standard Sense mail app functions. Its homescreen weather/clock widget is also just nicer than anything else out there.

I'm sure it's objectively not a helluva lot better at anything than many others, but I just don't feel compelled to change. I've toyed about with Android's stock launcher for a bit & to my mind Sense is the only custom overlay that actually improves on vanilla Android's functionality. :)

Oh, didn't realize the combine contacts function was part of Sense. Agree on the weather wigets being pretty cool.

IMO launchers Like ADW ex and GO offers more flexibility and better customizability. i.e. holding an icon will give more options like uninstall, change the icon, rename... Also both these launchers allows you to group shortcuts into folders by drag and drop much like standard ICS (which I also don't have on this phone yet).

The docks are also customizable... (I just cant stand that damn shortcut to "Personalize" on the dock with Sense.:p )

It's not just a part of Sense. It's built into ICS, and all the Gingerbread launchers I used allowed it (TouchWiz, Timescape) too.
