What phone to get?

i will only go for SE now!

also got a k750i, love the camera quality - stuff my old 3.2mp cybershot!! ;)

after having this imate kjam i agree. smart phones are the biggest pile of **** ever invented.

I have realised i can do without my email and all the other rubbish a smart phone offers to rather have slim phone that slide in my pocket.

nokia n series is the biggest joke ever. dunno what happened to nokia but that range is a joke. is it a paper weight or a phone.

Samsung = good phones.

Samsung will be my next phone when this imate dies or my contract is up.

In what way are Samsungs good phones? Only bad things come to mind when I see a Samsung phone.
 
I already considered getting a smartphone, but getting a compact phone is more important to me right now. It needs to fit in my pocket easily, along with my iPod. (oh yeah, and I don't want to get a walkman phone since I rather use my iPod).

Also, having 3G would really be useful.
 
Considering the amount of functionality & features inside the SE P990i, it's actually amazing how slim & light the phone is. Just finished ripping Dido: Live at Brixton Academy DVD to my phone & I am seriously impressed - the screen is absolutely fabulous! Sometimes I don't know if it should be classed as a business phone or entertainment device. ;)

*For evenings out, I use a black Motorola V3 Razr. Not gonna let somebody steal my P990i. :)

Like what? Mine has been very functional. The one problem I have is that you can't easily copy java apps and stuff onto it, you need to jump through various hoops.

For me, the 990 is still too big, too breakable and too finicky...

I do technical support for a J2ME application and I have found that Samsung phones are by far the most problematic. The following are the most common problems which Samsung users experience:
- users struggle to download and install Java applications because of bugs in the phone's firmware.
- users experience serious GPRS stability problems because of bugs in the phone's firmware.
- predictive text isn't available in Java applications

Also, the menu layout of different Samsung phones is all so different - you would think that they could make the menus on their different phones at least remotely similar.

IMO, if you can get a Sony Ericsson, why even consider a Samsung?

If you can ... hold out for the Nokia N95 that should be arriving second half of the year, maybe sooner, maybe later

or SE K800i if you are a fan.

PDA SE phone would be P990i.
