In order to use LTE on MTN you must have a 128K sim identifiable with 3G or LTE branding and have the LTE VAS service enabled.My contract MTN sim is the 3G one with VAS loaded.My bro has the standard 64K MTN sim with the LTE VAS loaded it will not access the MTN LTE network at all I have tried this.
To use LTE on the Afrihost pre-order sims you need a sim swop. I have seen on one of the threads that it is R197 and free if you have the protection plan.

I received a yellow MTN sim card a few month ago however on Sunday I was unable to connect to the internet. After several e mails and telephonic arguments with Afrihost, they discovered that my number had been recycled by MTN in error and was thus out of service.
I was promised a new sim at no cost. Lo and behold, this morning I see a debit order against my bank account and now, despite several e mails, I can't get a response from them.
Pretty shocking service to say the least
