I have maintained 1 old DSC 5010, an IDS alarm about 5 years ago and a New Paradox wireless system (MG5050 i think).
I love the paradox, but the wireless is a headache. Compatibility issues with the keypads, updating them and still having issues. Range issues requiring signal boosters(plural). Changing the batteries is just a chore I wish i did not need to do. If I could do it again I would do paradox but wired.
I have no complaints about the DSC System, it really just worked minus one issue after 15+ years of operation where we had to reprogram it because it was just doing weird stuff (Sirens going off randomly, sending random panics through to the control room and some other stuff).
The IDS was also an old install, no fancy features, just the basics but it worked without issues for 10+ years.
The star of any alarm for me is OLARM integration. It's so convenient to see what zones triggered an alarm and to be able to bypass and set the alarm from your phone, I think you can even do PGM control with it.
Edit: The Paradox wireless stuff has demanded more time from me in the last two years than the old 5010 did over it's entire life cycle. Got some really good Pros in to help me out with the paradox wireless stuff and it took them multiple visits and headaches to sort out the wireless issues.
