What would you think of...?

A local site dedicated almost entirely to gaming in South Africa.

The idea would be to bring together all the expertise scattered around and have a central point with information on what's available, what/where servers are, how to get online and what to expect when you are online.

Games included would be BF2, WoW, Warcraft III, DotA, CS and as many others as I can lay my hands on.

Forums, news etc etc etc.

*Game servers (it is in this point that SAIX will win anyday...you'll need alot of moolah to host game servers)

Reviews, News, Clan Tournaments and previews would be easy enough and are in fact part of the planned site anyway.

I agree that SAIX would kick ass with the servers as alas I'm not a billionaire

I can't stand the idea that SAIX is the SA leader on games and anything I Can do to take away that bit would be grand

Now that I think about it, you'll be "competing" with game mags such as NAG, PCF (UK rip-off) so if you can make it as good as NAG/PCF, they'll lose business (assuming of course your site is free)

there hasn't been anything since www.gamevault.co.za (or the old www.sagaming.co.za site) and www.gamespace.co.za isn't updated anymore.

I'd say go for it. Just make a professional design. Come with a business plan in mind and do proper market research.

Surely if you are hosting a game server, you have to pay for the bandwidth that the server will use: incoming/outgoing?

Yeah I'd imagine so. I think that for the moment at least I wouldn't run a game server itself. I'm a little too poor for that.

The purpose of this site will be mainly informational and do its damndest to give up to date information on reviews/previews on the latest games, consoles and anything else.
