Whatsapp Updated to Holo UI

Yeah, the imoji button is now much better situated. Doesn't block the text when you want to choose a smiley.

Basically the message appears above the lockscreen allowing you to read it and reply without having to unlock your phone, usually all the new messages appear there and you can swipe between them, at the moment its intermittent though, sometimes they all appear there, sometimes the older ones just disappear
 
Grabbed the .apk from site. Much cleaner looking.
The emoticons being placed at the bottom is a welcome change.

That ^ just literally pops your messages in your face.

I don't have an issue with lock screen and not being able to unlock the phone with it in the notification bar. Still works for me:D

I just came across it.
No proof yet that it may actually work as before, but worth a try.

Also noticed that there was no Notification Sound Tone assigned to incoming messages.
Had to set that up from the settings menu too.

Any one want to email me the apk. When I download it from the website it says download unsuccessful. (This is from my phone)
