Which is practically better, a streaming or a video download service?

In the past dl made sense, horrifically alien connection.

Now I have a good connection and stream everything. Why dl anything? Watch or listen to what you want when you want. No need to buy countless HD and hoard content you will never watch...

The only reason I dl something is when we fly and I'll dl something to watch on the flight.
 
There's a theory I've heard which makes sense - that the streaming choice keeps one hooked and reliant on the services more.

Then again, same could be said for the likes of DStv and their "competition". But for my household's tastes just the one still does enough.

Band of Brothers, Westworld, Watchmen, The Leftovers, The Sopranos, Mare of Easttown, The Wire, Deadwood, Chernoby, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, True Detective, The Wire, Oz and Barry.

Anyway...

I still have an old Seagate with a bunch of series and movies that I'd downloaded back in the day when downloading was the only way... I find that in the year of our lord 2022, most new releases land on Apple TV pretty quickly and it's rare that I have to sail the seas.

That's me. I wouldn't call myself an extreme collector, but whether it be books, movies, music, series, anime... I like having my own library with the stuff I enjoyed and would like to read, listen to or watch again.

So I have my movie library set up by decade, for instance (80s, 90s, etc) and I have about a 100 movies in each folder. The others I might watch once then delete.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, we watch quite a few classics a number of times. I would hate to think how many man-hours went into many, many viewings of Star Trek, 007 etc. through the years :-o

Reminds me of back in the days when I used to download porn.
Before porn sites were what they are today.
But almost overnight porn went from (without spending money) very hard to find, kak quality and derisory, to the plethora available now.


Streaming for the win.
