Which SLR should I get?

getting the 550D, not a lot of differences between the 550D and 600D
orms cost is best, but i require credit so going to have to settle with Game...

In fact my FAV at the moment is the 50mm!! As Dolby rightly says the 50mm is MAGIC!! I took some pics of my girls last night and the 50mm wasn't even a thought it was a natural selection... Zoom in - step forward, zoom out - step back BUT the pics are AWESOME!!

The 50mm "was" my favourite as well... until I got my 10 - 20mm a few days back :)

I have a 550D for a while now and love it. Whats a decent lens if I want to zoom a decent distance and get a good wide angle ?

I got the standard lens that came with the 550d currently.

Mainly take pics of car shoots and scenery.

Thanks

how do these cameras fare against an slr ...im a noob

This and This
If you're looking at super zoom point and shoots, and theres no real reason not to, then have a look at the PowerShot SX40. From what I saw at the roadshow recently it's an impressive bit of kit.

damn thats way out my price range ...was looking at something small for now for good quality pics ...i have a normal 12mp cheap camera which takes nice pics but i want something different now thats why the fujifilm types ...so maybe if these compare abit to what a slr can do then its good

will get a slr one day ....i saw the d550 and liked that but still too much for me for now

If the SX40 is a bit pricey, look at the Nikon Coolpix L120...

I must be honest, I haven't been too impressed with the Coolpix L series that I've played with. Also:

Like we mentioned above, the L120 boasts fully automatic operation. That means there are no manual, aperture priority, or shutter speed priority exposure options. Some may miss them, but I bet most won't even notice.

Compared to its peers, the L120 battled valiantly in terms of sensitivity. At ISO 400 we begin to witness small signs of details being smoothed, and at ISO 800 lines and borders begin to merge.

Disturbance increases subtly as we step up to ISO 1600, and by ISO 3200 colours are muted and noise heightened, but by ISO 6400 details are irrevocably scrambled and noise visibly destroying image integrity, rendering results unusable.

Noise reduction technology is clearly in place but whilst this does go some way to reducing the disturbance of grain it also robs the image of its detail and the mutes colours, however overall the results are certainly in keeping with what we would accept to see of a camera of this calibre.

I haven't used the L120, but I assumed that it would outperform the Finepix S3300... Which bridge camera would you recommend in the 2.5k price range? I believe that most would have noise issues at higher ISO, but the fact that the L120 does not have manual mode is a bit of a shocker.

went to Orms for the first time - visited the physical shop.
guy named Fritz, this guy knows his stuff, was able to help me on any camera related question i have - none of the other shops had anyone nearly as clued up as this guy.
will definitely be getting camera from them.
