Why do schools use Windows?

I have yet to find a company that doesn't use Windows as their desktop environment.

I have only ever worked for one company that used Linux as their server operating system. The others all use Unix.

Teaching kids the OS that is mostly used is in their interest. It doesnt constrain them at all. If you think teaching them Windows will make them Microsoft fanboys, then you seriously underestimate the intelligence of your own children.

PS: I have 2 desktops at home. One had Windows 7 and the other has Oracle Enterprise Linux. At work I use Windows XP and AIX Unix. They all do what they need to do.

To be anti Windows is as short sighted as being anti Linux.

The reality is that if you want a career in IT you need to be comfortable in both Windows and Linux/Unix. If your career us not in IT, then knowledge of Linux/Unix instead of Windows is probably the dumbest choice you can ever make.

Teaching kids Windows in school is a good start.
