I recently signed up to "Wireless Online" (www.wo.co.za) and the only reason I really need a permanent internet connection is for the convenience of always being connected and for online gaming. I thought that if you connected to a local server your ISP had no reason to deduct your bandwidth usage off your cap.

I only have a 1 gig cap so I used my cap up in 4 days!!!!
I connect to the SAIX server which is local. I heard that even Telkom doesn't charge for downloading off local servers.

Can someone please tell me what is up with that
Is Wireless Online right to charge me for playing off local servers and even downloading from FTP off their own server?

Thanks.

Every ISP in SA deducts your local usage. Welcome to SA.

They basically measure every damn bit coming in and out of your router as data.

Well, thanks to our very good friends ICASA, they left much open to interpretation. My sugestion to to get a local only account from OpenWeb or WebAfrica - both are currently running specials - have a look at the ISP subthread.

Well, currently I have an OpenWeb 10Gb account to test. Signed up for an WebAfrica 30Gb Account.

Both WebAfrica and OpenWeb are excellent companies and its a difficult choice since they are both so competetive.
