I have a problem guys. When i woke up this morning, i switched on my PC, and when i tried to connect to the net, it gave me an error.

Error 678: The remote computer did not respond.

It was one of those dialogs that have a "redail=59 sec etc etc etc" buttons.

I've tried this with 2 different ISP accounts...

So what now? And ideas?

what software are u using and what hardware?

if this is with a router.. check to see if bridging is enabled, possible that router reset or not synching. If telkom usb modem check if modem light comes on and check status of adsl icon.. green is sych.

Looks like an ESR fault at the exchange, you will have to log it. If your using a router in bridge mode and can see that the line is synching and your still getting error 678 then its def an ESR problem. If its USB make sure your software is working correctly...

Make sure it's synching, if it's not, check that all the cables are properly plugged in. Try resetting the router and making sure that the settings in the router are still correct. So basically figure out if it's something on your side. If there is no solution, phone telkom and report the problem.

yah i'm always carefull with those 678 errors as mentioned above it can be lack of synch or no bridging on router/modem that makes throws it. So you wanna make sure its not your equip before jumping to conclusion. If you have a router before giving up, try allowing the router to make the connection with test uname/pwd and check the usual settings while in there.
