Do you mean by getting a Wii from the US. I know the UK is out of the question with the current rate of exchange.

I think anyone who really must have a Wii should go the importing route. Just bypass Core and their silly prices.

I bought a local Wii, because I thought the extra cost (while ridiculous) was worth it to me in terms of hassle and the availability of support.

Games, on the other hand, I imported from DVDCrave because they worked out so much cheaper, it was just as convenient as buying locally, and I don't think I'll need tech support (not much can go wrong with a disc).

EDIT: More than anything that worries me about hte Wii, and why I won't pay R3k for one is, sure it's fun with the kids now, but I hear of so many people tha are enamoured with it for the first few months and subsequently it's just been gathering dust. I'd be less worried if they could just get the games flowing on it.

That is what freaks me out too. Bought a DS and loved it for about 3 months and played almost every day. Now it is gathering dust and I haven't finished half the games...Scared that the same would happen to me with a Wii.

I cannot believe your DS is gathering dust. Phantom Hourglass just came out. Buy this game for your DS. My favourite yet. Or don't buy it, you know, because free will, mind body - something.

I don't know. Mario Kart and Lunar Genesis were fun for a good many hours but they can't beat the story and interaction that the new Need for Speed or Eve Online give. They are fine to play for a while but a PC game will beat them for rich interaction nine out of ten times...
