Reading some responses there's people that should NOT be voting. Fck, they shouldn't even be wasting my oxygen supply.

Emigration is also not an excuse IMO, by not voting you're not just saying fsck you to the ANC, you're saying fsck you to everyone...

Emigration is a completely valid excuse, and that's entirely because of the out of country voting model: it has to be at the closest foreign mission. That's fine for those who live reasonably close to one, but that doesn't apply to everyone.

The best example that I can think of is the significant expat community in Perth. There is one voting place for the Australian expats, and that's the High Commission in Canberra (yes, there's an honorary consul in Perth: no, one cannot vote at honorary consuls' offices). Voting for the Perth folks therefore requires catching a 4 hour flight to Canberra that only gets in at around 5pm (because time zone differences), catching an Uber to the High Commission, casting a vote, catching an Uber to overnight accommodation because there's no way that one is making the 7:30pm return flight, and then flying back the next day. Assuming an election date at the end of April 2024 and if booked now, flight costs are currently $1,036 return (around R12,400), and a night's accommodation seems to be in the $180-$250 range (R2,200-R3,000); not sure what an Uber would cost there. Either way, it's completely unreasonable to expect someone living in Perth to take two days out of their life and spend that sort of money casting a vote for a country that they no longer reside in.

VOTE! For sure!
These moronic 'leaders' we have at present are just standing at the trough, waiting for the next weapons deal, Transnet, Eskom, harbours (coming up), so they can take their 'democratic' share...

I am convinced I will split my vote and vote differently nationally and provincially. Best of both worlds! Ha!
