could someone explain to me what's the purpose in placing a Capping of data a subscriber could receive in a month or year

So that the monopoly can make the maximum amount of profit. Simple, hey.

I was fwd to this post by a friend of mine and being a residence of the States, could someone explain to me what's the purpose in placing a Capping of data a subscriber could receive in a month or year or etc.? Is it a business strategy or a technical?

We'd also like to know, forward your questions straight on to Telkom.

I suppose it's meant to be both though, we apparently don't have the bandwidth available in SA and almost all of our traffic is international whereas in the US it would be largely local. And it makes for great business "strategy" when you control the only international pipe (hard cable) to SA.
