Okay a more realistic one. ;) (Posted due to lack of more interesting subjects :p )

I reckon the outages are caused by:

a. Holiday time - generally heavier load
b. plus bad weather (more indoors)
c. Wave of new users over Xmas
d. Writers Guild Strike - More folks are gaming rather than watching reruns
e. Hardware suppliers are closed over this week so they can't readily get there hands on new servers to distribute the load.
f. Someone tried to get smart with their Active Directory settings ;)

For the record I don't believe it's an attack from the Sony rootkit :p

I think MS underestimated their Christmas sales by quite a margin but still, they should've been prepared for this. Anyway, it's not THAT bad, just a few hiccups and LONG loading times for some of the blades.

not too bad? for about 2 hours i cannot even get into my game/download the update for it.

stuffed me around for 2 days

Not EVERYONE was experiencing issues, except when Xbox Live was completely down if I'm not mistaken?

you are not mistaken ;)

I never experienced a single issue.... It seems that only a few servers were affected, however since it is a paid for service this type of thing should not happen...

its still giving BS, last night at the end of a round in my single player game, i could not proceed to the next level because the stupid game was attempting to upload my score to the leaderboards which it COULDNT FIND CAUSE LIVE WENT BELLY UP again
