XBOX 360 with Windows Media Center

Just install Windows Media connect, im running it on XP and works like a charm. No need for WMP11 or any other program.

I know that, but with the trouble the guys are having with WMP11 I recommended WMC rather. I also had troubles with WMP11 and just installed WMC and all works fine now.
 
Finaly got it to work, not sure exactly wat fixed the problem, I am able to veiw pictures on the xbox but not any videos, when i try watch vids on the xbox it says i need to download an update of 2.43MB, every time the download gets to 96/98% and stops with an error!?, i have a load of ripped dvd's on the pc, what sorta codecs/programs will let me stream those to the xbox?, if its possible at all!?

You obviously dont know what you are talking about. The latest Fall Update for XBOX allows you to play xvid/dixv movie VIA a CD/DVD. Im talking about streaming videos from your PC to the XBOX. XMC doesn't allow that, thats why you require transcode360.

What is incorrect about my initial statement? Yes I did assume that the XBOX's Media Extender would play DivX/Xvid like the Dashboard player does, but still doesnt change the fact the the XBOX360 can now play Divx/Xvid files natively without transcoding ... from CD/DVD, Flash or over the network from an OS running WMP (like Vista Ultimate). Use it myself quite often.

What reading do you reckon I need to do?

Im gonna have to say ur wrong there. I can play xvid/divx media directly from my pc using WMC.
