Except this time it's not on exotic hardware. So we should hopefully see it in more games.
Yep... As the Anandtech article mentioned, it's usually the lowest common denominator that has the biggest impact.

It’s that time of decade again
Its pointless comparing these consoles they more or less the same. You wont see any difference in graphics between the two.
I also agree with this, ps3 main factor was that it had Blu-ray.. xbox 360 just your ordinary dvd...
compare the two in graphics? its the same...
NOW xbox has Blu-ray... its gona be the same if not better graphics...
But I still feel its to early to compare without the nitty gritty spec's not out yet....
I'm an xbox fan and I must admit they did disappoint with using "old" technology i.e DDR3 Ram and normal hard drive rather than SSD, although this would obviously increase the price on the unit.
on a side note, did you guys check the new design of the xbox control... it just looks plain down sexy!!
Given the information available, I am of the option that Microsoft have missed the boat with the One. In summary, they made this mistake Sony made with the PS3 in that the One is a Multimedia Center that can also play games. The PS4 retains the Media Center capabilities which were great for the PS3 and adds the one thing the 360 had over the PS3: a decent game console.
PS4 is the winner this time round, IMO.
You obviously haven't seen Uncarted. Graphics were only same in multiplatform titles. The PS4 also has 50% more shaders than the One.
That's like the difference between the GTX650 and GTX 660.
So the PS3 had one game that took advantage of better hardware.
It was just an example.
Anyway as I said. The PS3 was hard to program for. The PS3 is basically a PC. We'll see plenty more games looking better.
How about this little gem...
I think MS might be playing a very intelligent long game with the Xbox-One

That's a bit too simply put. The Cell architecture was a development nightmare compared to the 360's (to optimise games for Cell, the development process would have taken 2-3 times longer). Which is why PS3 exclusives were some of the best looking games ever produced on a console.

They're both PCs & similar in hardware used AMD CPU/GPU but the PS4 should take the lead in gfx due to more shaders & bigger memory bus bandwidth. Enhancing the gfx for the PS4 should be very easy seeing the underlying tech is the same. Thing is this should also make for much better PC ports of consolde games. Come to think of it they might as well just code for the highest spec (PC with killer GPU) and scale down from there for the other platforms, similar to how crysis looked super on high end gear but still playable on lower end systems if you tweaked the settings down wrt gfx.
