Anyone out there still playing this 10 years post release? I fire it up occasionally to play dm6\dm3. "Warms my heart" (bet no one ever applied that phrase to Quake :D ) to see Quakeworld servers still going stong overseas..

I had a Rendition Verite V1000. Featured 3D accelerated Quake months before the 3DFX hit big. I remember a few of my friends viewing the filtered textures for the first time "Look, its not blocky anymore". "Ba, big deal...." came the response - 5 months later, everybody had a 3Dfx card and couldn't live without 3D acceleration :D

Funny enough I also had a Rendition Verite (it replaced a S3 Diamond Stealth 64) when Creative brought out their 3D Blaster ... the card lasted until I read about 3DFX and had a Diamond Monster 3D imported.

It had a rather nice port of Tombraider but it's VGA emulation was very slow.

Well that was back in my bachelor days when I could afford to blow money on keeping my PC gaming rig up to date with the latest and greatest before the bond, wife and kids took it's toll :).

I still play ye olde Doom single player from time to time. It's still fun and the updated engines work well.

The sprites have a unique character to them, something not found in the majority of modern 3D shooters with their look-a-like player models.

mmmm Quake I... The original game that got me completely addicted to gaming... mmmm....

DM4 was by far the best map.... Man I loved that game.
