Your opinions on LiveView

Also looking at my 1st dSLR, decided lv not going to influence my decision.

Just need to scape some money together and decide between the Nikon d3000 with VR lens or the Sony a230 with twin lense kit:o

Anyone have the sony?
 
I have the a200, and I love it...

What kind of price are you looking at for the twin lens kit?

I use LV occasionally. It can be useful to reference how your exposure and composition is going to look. Especially when in an awkward position, which is often the case with macro photography.
Also when shooting on a tripod, it performs the same way as the Mirror Lock Up function would, reducing camera shake ((edit) and noise if shooting wildlife). This includes when your bracketing shots triggered from the self-timer, the camera will automatically shoot the whole sequence in one press, an excellent function for HDR photography.

This is actually the only use I've found for it. On the 40D/50D, MLU works on a per-shot basis. So you squeeze the trigger once, it flips up the mirror. You squeeze it again, it takes the shot. This is not desirable for doing sequences (star trails, for example). Live view gets around that because it doesn't drop the mirror in-between shots. The downside is, the screen stays on, so it drains the battery far quicker.
