Been setting up a box to run as a proxy here at work. This is by way of arbly practicing and getting things up and running. I have come to hate packages and dependencies.

Surely there's a simpler way to install things than following the ever biffurcating line of requires for each package?

Wow, I haven't experienced "dependency hell" since my early days on Mandrake and Red Hat.

Once I switched to Debian and now Ubuntu, I never had bad problems with dependecies.

What distro you using?

Red Hat 7.2 :D *cries*

It's apparently our standard worldwide (although I will be pushing for another distro soon) and it's purely console. I've actually drawn a dependency tree on one of my whiteboards to illustrate to a colleague the kind of crap it is :D
