Apple denies MVNO plans
Apple has denied reports that it plans to launch its own mobile network or MVNO, a spokesperson told Reuters.
An MVNO is a mobile operator that offers services on top of another cellular carrier’s infrastructure.
The denial comes after Business Insider reported that Apple was testing an MVNO in the United States.
It reported that Apple was also in talks with European companies to offer its services there.
Business Insider said Apple’s MVNO would not launch anytime soon, assuming it moves beyond its test phase. It reported that Apple could take at least five years to launch the service.
Earlier in 2015, Google announced the launch of its cellular service called Project Fi, which offers services on both Sprint and T-Mobile’s networks in the United States.
