Vodacom R99 data special kick in
The mobile broadband market is set to heat up when the rebranded operator Cell C bursts onto the scene with its 21 Mbps offerings later this month. Further competition is expected from Telkom Mobile, which is set to officially launch before the end of 2010, and should also shake things up.
Vodacom is not blind to the looming competition and has unsurprisingly cut the prices on some of its lower end bundled offerings. They are also looking to add more value and recently threw in 1 GB of free ‘after midnight’ data with every broadband advanced package purchased.
The latest special deal from Vodacom aims to capture the unconnected market with its Linkbook offering. The company has slashed the price of its Linkbook netbook bundled with 300 MB of monthly data from the usual R199 per month to R99 per month on a 24 month contract.
A MyMeg 300 Broadband Standard data bundle typically retails for R139.00 per month which means that Vodacom is not only cutting the price of its data pricing with its Linkbook deal, it is also throwing in the netbook free of charge.
Vodacom has a similar deal for people with their own computing devices, offering subscribers a K3565 modem (offering speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps) and 300 MB of data at R99 per month on a 24 month contract.
