Samsung opening virtual reality studio
Samsung has revealed that it will open a virtual reality studio in New York, which will produce games and media for its Gear VR headset.
According to a report by Engadget, the studio will be located inside an existing Samsung office – which means that large-scale productions are not likely from the start.
Samsung has also signed a deal with the Sundance Institute to “foster movie makers and other creatives”, with VR expected to play a bigger role at future Sundance film festivals.
The Gear VR headset is compatible with the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, and Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
It has a suggested retail price of R1,999, and is available from Samsung Brand Stores.
