Cell C bags regulatory heavyweight

With over a decade of experience in telecommunication policy and regulation Bulbulia is one of the heavyweights in the industry and a valuable asset to any local provider in the heavily regulated telecoms industry.

Nadia Bulbulia spent 7 years at the former IBA in the policy development division and as a councilor. Bulbulia became an ICASA Councilor in July 2002 and her 4 year term ended on the 30th of June 2006.

After leaving ICASA in 2006, Bulbulia joined Vodacom as executive head of regulatory requirements. Bulbulia left the mobile giant a couple of months ago and has recently joined Cell C where she will head up their regulatory division.

As the smallest cellular provider, Cell C has recently indicated that it was on the receiving end of some crafty maneuvering from Vodacom and MTN before it entered the market which diminished its ability to compete effectively against their larger rivals.

Cell C was often perceived as somewhat weak on regulatory issues, and Bulbulia’s presence at the company is likely to add significant weight to its regulatory abilities.

Bulbulia is also one of the new members of the SABC board which was announced recently.
