Mac OS X Leopard will ship on October 26
Apple announced that Mac OS X Leopard will go on sale Friday, October 26 at 6:00 p.m. at Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers, and that Apple’s online store is now accepting pre-orders.
Leopard promises a wealth of new features and introduces a brand new desktop with Stacks, a new way to access files from the Dock.
Other features users may be looking forward to include a redesigned Finder that lets users quickly browse and share files between multiple Macs, Quick Look, a new way to see files without opening an application, Spaces, a new feature used to create groups of applications and switch between them and Time Machine, a way to automatically back up everything on a Mac.
“Leopard, the sixth major release of Mac OS X, is the best upgrade we’ve ever released,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “And everyone gets the ‘Ultimate’ version, packed with all the new innovative features, for just $129.”
