Clash of Kings forum hacked, 1.6 million accounts stolen
A hacker breached the forum for the mobile game Clash of Kings on 14 July and stole the details of 1,597,717 user accounts, ZDNet reported.
According to the report, the hacker did not wish to be named, and provided a copy of the hacked database to LeakedSource.com.
The database contains usernames, email addresses, IP addresses, device identifiers, and Facebook data and access tokens. It also contained passwords, which were hashed and salted.
ZDNet reported that the hacker exploited a known weakness in an older version of the forum software vBulletin, which dates back to 2013.
The version of the software that the Clash of Clans forum used had a number of vulnerabilities, which can be exploited with tools that you can easily find online.
