Armscor getting “cyber experts” to investigate Anonymous hack

Anonymous South Africa

Armscor, the acquisition agency for the Department of Defence, said it is aware of a data breach of its website.

This follows recent reports that hackers who associate with Anonymous breached the company’s site and leaked invoicing data online.

Anonymous said the hack was done in the name of its OpAfrica campaign, which was launched earlier this year.

“A team of cyber experts has been convened to conduct a forensic analysis to determine the full extent of this incident,” said Armscor.

“This is to ensure that tighter measures and interventions are in place to prevent similar attempts from recurring.”

Although its investigation is still underway, Armscor said the data leaked does not contain sensitive or classified content.

“Armscor would like to assure its stakeholders that this matter is receiving our undivided attention.”
