Neotel CDMA network suffers equipment malfunction

Neotel’s CDMA network recently suffered a “secondary equipment” malfunction, which led to slow speeds on its network.

Neotel customers complained on Facebook and to MyBroadband they were experiencing slow download speeds on the network – a problem which Neotel acknowledged twice on its Facebook page over the past week.

“Neotel apologises for slow speeds being experienced by our CDMA data customers which we are urgently working to fix,” said the company on 11 October.

Neotel told MyBroadband the data throughput speeds have now been “normlaised” across most areas.

“CDMA speed degradation was caused by overloading on primary equipment due to the malfunctioning of secondary equipment in Neotel’s redundant CDMA cluster,” it said.
