Skype Wi-Fi killed

Microsoft announced it is discontinuing its Skype Wi-Fi service on 31 March 2017.

Skype Wi-Fi offered users paid Internet access at over 2 million hotspots worldwide. Users paid for access using Skype Credit.

“You won’t be able to download the Skype Wi-Fi application, and if you still have Skype Wi-Fi installed after 31 March, the application will no longer be able to find and use hotspots,” said Microsoft.

Users who have Skype Credit can use it for Skype’s other features, such as calling mobiles and landlines.

“We’re retiring Skype Wi-Fi globally so we can better focus our efforts on bringing you the best possible experience through our core Skype features.”
