Telkom to reduce price of Closer ADSL packages
Telkom said that there will be an 18.2 % reduction in ADSL access rates. The DSL 384 access price will be reduced from R 245-00 to R 152-00, a 38 % price reduction. The DSL 512 access price will decrease from R 362-00 to R 326-00 while the 4 Mbps price will be cut from R 516-00 to R 413-00.
Analogue line rental prices will however increase from R 99-92 to R 111.90, which means that there will be an effective saving of around 15% on the combined ADSL Access and Line Rental charges.
Closer Packages
Many ADSL customers have opted for Telkom’s Closer packages, which allow for unlimited landline calls during callmore time, 1 000 inclusive standard time minutes, savings on cellular calls with pure per-second billing.
Telkom’s Closer Plan 4, which currently costs R 499-00 per month, will be reduced to R 429-00 per month on the 1st of August. This plan includes DSL 384 access with the standard closer benefits.
Telkom’s Closer Plan 5, which includes DSL 4 Mbps access in addition to all the Closer 3 benefits, will be reduced from R 699-00 to R 651-00.
The new prices are subject to approval by the telecommunication industry’s regulator – Icasa.
