Nvidia feels the pinch

Nvidia said yesterday that it expected revenue for its current quarter to be down by as much as 50% over previous periods.

The company blamed a drop in sales to PC makers and end-user demand as the primary causes of the decline.

Nvidia is also finally feeling the burn as AMD’s long-awaited comeback makes inroads into its market.

The ongoing global economic recession is also taking a chunk out of earnings at the company as consumer luxury spending undergoes a decline.

The fact that AMD’s HD4000 series offers better bang for buck with products like the HD 4850, has obviously had added influence in a time when people are less prone to excessive and unnecessary spending on high-end but arguably overpriced solutions such as Nvidia’s GTX280.
