MTN 2c per second prepaid rate
MTN has slashed the price for voice calls on its One Rate prepaid plan to 2c per second (R1.20 per minute) to all networks at all times. The calls are charged per second.
MTN’s previous One Rate price was 2.91c per second (R1.75 per minute), which means that customers stand to save R0.55 per minute.
This announcement follows three weeks after Vodacom launched its new ‘Free4Sho’ Vodacom Daily Free Calls prepaid price plans where subscribers pay R1.20 per minute to all networks.
The big difference between MTN and Vodacom’s price plan is that MTN’s One Rate price plan is billed per second, while Vodacom’s Daily Free Calls plan is billed per minute.
MTN Zone improvements
MTN has also improved its MTN Zone promotion by extending the current MTN Zone promotion through:
- Mahala Nights (which now offers up to 100% discounts between 22:00 and 05:00)
- Mahala Day (offering up to 100% discounts between 06:00 and 18:00) on weekdays
- Mahala Weekend (offering continued discounted rates from Friday evenings right through to the end of the weekend).
MTN has also announced the extension of its international calling promotion whereby customers who are on the MTN Zone price plan can now enjoy up to 100% discounted rates on calls to 200 countries worldwide.
The MTN Zone international calling promotion offers up to 100% Mahala discounts on international call rates, depending on the called destination.
MTN Customers will be able to enjoy discounts between 10% and 90% when calling 200 destinations while 100% discounts will be offered to a few countries including some of the most popular international calling destinations.
Customers calling any of the destinations discounted between 10% and 90% will be able to make their calls at these rates for any length of time between 06h00 and 18h00 on weekdays.
