    Vodacom is a Pan-African cellular communications company providing a world class GSM service to more than 21.5 million customers in South Africa, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Lesotho, and has just secured a licence in Mozambique.
    Vodacom South Africa launched its 3G network in December 2004 and its 3G HSDPA network in March 2006. Vodacom Tanzania announced the launch of its 3G network in February 2006.
    Vodacom is the market leader in all of the countries where it currently operates, with satisfactory customer growth, most notably in Mozambique.
    Vodacom has a 57% share of the South African market, Africa's largest and most profitable cellular market. Vodacom's South African GSM network consists of nearly 6400 base stations and covers more than 6% of the total landmass of South Africa and 97.9% of the population. Shareholding: Telkom SA - 50%, Vodafone Group - 50%.

    Default Vodacom Update

    On the 1st of April 2011,Vodacom officially changed its branding colours and design with the launch of the "Red" campaign after Vodafone Group increased it's stake in the company to 65% - bringing the local branding more in-line with the international standard.

    Vodacom currently offers 3G services of up to 43.3 Mbit/s and is investing in future LTE technology.

    Vodacom's CEO is currently Pieter Uys, who was appointed in 2008.
