Free Wi-Fi a hit
Project Isizwe launched the first phase of its free Wi-Fi to open public spaces throughout the City of Tshwane in November 2013. Since this launch the number of users on the network increased significantly.
According to Project Isizwe they have seen excellent growth – the network is now seeing an average of over 1,200 unique users per day, which is almost triple the average of 450 that was recorded just one month ago.
The number of total unique users has also doubled in the last month, growing from 6,500 in January 2014 to more than 13,000 by 15 February 2014.
The total sessions in that time have also grown remarkably, from 23,000 to over 61,000.

Church Square in central Pretoria is seeing the most usage, which Project Isizwe said can be attributed to the amount of business activity occurring in that area.
“However, as University year is just beginning, the locations around educational institutions such as TUT’s Soshanguve campus and Tshwane North College have seen a large spike, and we expect those FIZ sites to further grow in popularity throughout the year,” the company said.
