New ADSL pricing
Telkom recently announced that it had filed a “minimal tariff adjustment” increase of 2.4% with ICASA.
Broadband pricing will remain unchanged. “Our broadband customers will also be pleased to hear that our submission makes provision for the monthly subscription charges for ADSL, Do Broadband and Telkom Internet to remain unchanged,” said Godfrey Ntoele, Telkom’s group executive, national sales and marketing operations.
All ADSL subscribers must, however, also pay analogue line rental to Telkom, a component which will increase in price from 1 August.
Telkom announced last week that all residential and business installation charges, as well as analogue and ISDN Basic Rate rental will increase by 11%.
Residential monthly line rental charges will increase from the current R111.90 to R124.20 while business customers will pay R165.00 per month instead of the usual R148.68.
This means that the total cost for ADSL access – which comprises analogue line rental, ADSL access charges and ISP bandwidth costs – will increase from August.
DSL384 customers who used to pay R263.90 will now fork out R276.20 for their ADSL access and analogue line rental. DSL512 customers will pay R450.20 – up from R 437.90 – while DSL4Mbps clients will pay R537.20 instead of R524.90.
Business customers will pay R16.32 per month more for their analogue line rental which will in effect also lift their total ADSL costs by the same amount.
Do Broadband Level 1 subscribers will pay R323.20 instead of the old R310.90 for both ADSL access and line rental while the total price of the Do Broadband Level 2 service will increase from R369.90 to R382.20. Do Broadband Level 3 subscribers can expect to pay R678.20 instead of the usual R665.90.
Bad news for Do Broadband Closer subscribers is that the cost of all these packages will also increase.
Do Broadband Level 1 Closer subscribers will pay R532.00 instead of the usual R499.00. Do Broadband Level 1 Closer will increase from R558.00 to R591.00 while Do Broadband Level 3 Closer users can expect to pay R887.00 instead of the old rate of R854.00.
