ISP lets ADSL cap grow
A new product by internet service provider (ISP) Cybersmart allows subscribers to grow their monthly usage limit by between 1MB and 3MB per day.
The new product, called "Grow for Life", carries a R19 monthly subscription charge and means that a subscriber’s cap will grow between 30MB and 90MB per month.
If you have been a Cybersmart subscriber for two years or longer, your cap will grow at 3MB per day for life. Cybersmart subscribers who have been with the company for more than six months but less than two years will get an additional 2MB per day while new subscribers will grow their cap by 1MB per day.
R19 equates to around 300MB of ADSL bandwidth when compared to industry rates, which means that older Cybersmart clients will start to show a profit after around three months of a Grow for Life subscription. The profit period increases to around 10 months for new subscribers.
The Grow for Life product should ensure higher loyalty towards the ISP and a lower churn rate among subscribers, something which is undoubtedly Cybersmart’s aim.
The company points out that even with the additional R19 a month associated with the Grow for Life product, their rates remain competitive.
“Your monthly cost will go up to R188 for a one-price DSL 384Kb line and a 1Gig cap which is cheaper than Telkom’s R199. This further means that your 1Gig cap will become 1.5Gigs and will continue growing after one year if your are a brand new Cybersmart subscriber,” said Cybersmart MD Laurie Fialkov.
Fialkov points out that subscribers who have been with the company for more than two years will have a cap of around 2GB after a year, effectively giving them an additional 1GB of usage for R19 a month.
Fialkov also said they the company was considering higher grow rates depending on demand.
