Free 10 GB ADSL trial from Web Africa

Web Africa recently announced that it is preparing to roll out Tier-1 ISP services, limiting its reliance on other Tier-1 providers like Internet Solutions (IS) and SAIX for its bandwidth needs.  “Web Africa will own and operate its own IP’s and network. Connection to the network from ADSL will be provided over what’s referred to as an IPC link similar to the way IS provisions its service,” the ISP said.

As part of this migration Web Africa is offering free ADSL trial accounts to consumers willing to test their service.  “We would like to invite those of you who have a sweet tooth for new technology to take part in the testing of our brand new ADSL network. This will run in parallel with our existing network while we make some final optimisation adjustments,” Web Africa recently announced.

With their new network Web Africa will have more control over their ADSL network:  “While we do not control the last mile, we do have full control over the performance and quality of the ADSL network, including whether we shape or unshape accounts and how they perform.”

Web Africa said it is confident that the additional control will mean better performance, higher service levels, more innovation and lower prices. “We are in a prime position to leverage the cost savings from the new international cable systems being constructed such as SEACOM and EASSy and pass them on to you,” Web Africa said.

The ISP added that pricing will definitely be reduced, and that they are currently working on new pricing models which will be released shortly.
