SAIX link failure causes ADSL problems

ADSL users started complaining about slow speeds and connectivity issues this afternoon, with international websites either being unavailable or slow to load.

Telkom has confirmed the problems, saying that a SAIX link failure is to blame for the international connectivity issues.

“An Ashburn (USA) SAIX link failed on the 14th of August at 14:00 hours. Telkom SA and the International operator (PCCW) in the USA are currently investigating the cause of the failure. Restoration of the link will be prioritised but in the interim, customers in South Africa may experience slow international connectivity,” Telkom said.
