1Gbps service for R466

Japan’s KDDI has announced that it will launch a 1Gbps fibre-based service to residential customers in October.  The service will be symmetrical, which means that both the upload and download speeds are 1Gbps.

According to JapanToday the service will be priced at 5 985 yen per month (R466 per month).

This, however, is not the first 1Gbps service in the world. Hong Kong’s HKBN has been offering residential customers its 1Gbps service since 2005.
