MyISP launches free Internet

Local Internet service provider Interprise today announced it is offering users free ADSLs and dial-up accounts. The ISP says that it has joined up with a venture capital company to establish MyISP.co.za.

Dial-up access through MyISP is free and unlimited. ADSL accounts are free for the first 250-300MB used after which users are cut off or charged a per-MB rate of 10c. Users can also purchase a top-up account that gives them an additional bandwidth allocation.

The entry-level Save More package gives users 250MB of bandwidth for free each month. The account does’t include an email address and users must pay R60 to upgrade the account to a 500MB account.

The MaxiSave accounts include 300MB bandwidth free each month and include an optional email address for R29/month. The company says that this will become an obligatory charge as the service extends. Top-up services for the MaxiSave accounts cost between R50 and R55 for 500MBs and up to R110 for 1GB accounts.

Leon Gerber, director of MyISP, says that "MyISP is focused on providing the South African consumer the best possible deal and has created a product and service offering that is geared to their requirements.

"As Interprise focuses primarily on the small office home office (SoHo) and small medium enterprise (SME) business market, we felt the time was right to launch an ISP business that enables consumers to easily gain access to the Internet without having to worry about paying costly service provider fees at the end of the month."

"We believe that since the demise of free Internet from service providers such as Absa Internet, the market has been waiting for a similar offer from an experienced provider like MyISP."
