Most powerful mobile device?

A recent advertisement by HTC, claiming that the HTC TyTN II was the “most powerful mobile device”, has landed the company in hot water with the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa (ASA).

A Mr Thomas lodged a consumer complaint against the Leaf Wireless HTC TyTN II internet advertisement published on the company’s website, saying that the ad was misleading because the handset was outperformed by, among others, a 2002 model HP 2210 handheld device.

HTC submitted arguments on the merits of the matter but confirmed that it would remove the cause of complaint from the website.

The ASA was happy with this undertaking on condition that the claim, in its current form, was not used again in future.
