MTN mum on billing problems
Over the last few weeks numerous MTN subscribers have been complaining about billing problems, ranging from data usage discrepancies to double billing. The MyBroadband MTN forum and websites like HelloPeter are littered with complaints from MTN subscribers about over billing, incorrect data usage measurements and poor complaints resolution.
“I have now been double billed twice. The first month I had to pay triple the amount and the next double the amount. MTN does absolutely nothing to remedy the situation and I have to pay up every month,” one MyBroadband member wrote.
“I just want to know if it is worth fighting since MTN has billed me an extra R400.00 for data even though 200mb of data rolled over. When I called they gave me a reference number and told me to phone back in a week. This is feeling futile,” another MTN subscriber and MyBroadband member said.
Over the last week alone MTN has received well over 100 complaints on the consumer activist website Hellopeter.com, many of which refers to incorrect billing and shoddy customer service. Many of these complaints appear to remain unresolved.
MTN was contacted through its PR agency regarding this issue, but despite two attempts to get information from the company about billing problems & customer complaints the cellular provider did not provide any feedback on the issue.
The lack of information from MTN about its supposed billing problems and poor support surrounding this issue is one of the main reasons for customer dissatisfaction, but the company seems to continue to put its head in the sand despite the multitude of unhappy consumers voicing their concerns.
