2009 gaming league kicks off
South Africa’s 2009 online gaming league is readying for a February launch.
The Mind Sports South Africa 2009 online league is now taking registrations and will launch with the first leg on February 16.
The league is made up of two legs. Leg one has the status of a provincial championship and leg two a national championship.
Leg one will run over five weeks from February 16. Leg two will run over five weeks from April 6 and will only include players from leg one.
Games that will be played in the online league are Counter Strike 1.6, DotA- Allstars, Team Fortress 2, Quake 3, Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty: World at War, Starcraft, TrackMania Nations Forever, Red Alert 3, Gears of War 2 (XBOX360) and Guitar Hero (XBOX 360).
Players will be eligible for provincial colours if they end in the top 50% of both leg one and leg two or win all their games in leg one.
Players that win all their games in leg two will automatically earn National Federation Colours.
Players that finish in the top 20% will automatically qualify for national team trials.
