Quad-Core AMD Opteron
AMD has introduced energy-efficient x86 server processors with four processing cores and an integrated memory controller all in a 55-watt ACP thermal envelope.
Blade and rack systems based on five low-power Quad-Core AMD Opteron Highly Efficient (HE) processors are now available from global OEMs and solution providers.
"Our Quad-Core AMD Opteron HE processors were designed to help data centre managers who see power consumption and virtualisation as the keys to solving their overall performance equation," says Randy Allen, corporate vice-president and GM: server and workstation division, AMD.
"These processors, which feature AMD’s power management and virtualisation innovations, offer a platform for power-conscious data centre managers who are changing the way in which they think about performance."
Quad-Core AMD Opteron HE processors are available in both the 2300 and 8300 Series for two-, four- and eight-way rack servers and blades.
