2 TB external drive now available

Distributor Drive Control Corporation (DCC) has today announced that it will be delivering Western Digital’s 2 Terabyte external My Book hardrive in June.

According to DCC this release is in response to greater demand for drive space given storage intensive video formats such as High Definition, which requires at least 8GB per hour of video according to market research group Gfk.

Vassen Naicker, WD product specialist at DCC believes that there is definitely a demand within the market for a 2TB drive. “As the volume and value of users digital content grows, backing up data on multiple CDs or DVDs becomes time consuming and inconvenient. At the same time, consumers are realising the monetary and emotional value of content and need to back up their most important files.”

The My Book 2TB drive is available in three formats:

My Book Studio Edition

Formatted for Mac computers this drive is aimed towards creative professionals and video editors. It features Firewire 400/800, eSATA and USB 2.0 interfaces and holds a five year warranty.

It will retail for R3960.00 including VAT.

My Book Home Edition

The My Book Home is intended for the average PC user who wishes to back up photographs and media. It features continuous backup software, eSATA, Firewire 400 and USB 2.0 interfaces and carries a three year warranty.
