Google Chrome out of beta

Google yesterday announced that its Chrome browser was no longer in beta.

The company says that there are more than 10 million active Google Chrome users around the world, on all seven continents.

Google Chrome was designed to improve the way users experience the internet, in particular Google’s own online applications.

Since launching Chrome in September, Google has improved the browser in a few key areas. These include better stability and performance, more speed, better privacy controls and easier bookmarking.

To date the Chrome browser only works on Windows-based machines but Google says that it is planning versions for Mac and Linux in the near future.

The company said in an announcement yesterday that "this launch of Google Chrome provides users with a more stable and faster experience as well as improvements to the user interface, like bookmarking and privacy controls. Users who have already installed Google Chrome will continue to be automatically updated to the newest version and get all the most updated security and bug fixes. We encourage new users who may have been waiting for us to announce an ‘out of beta’ version before installing Google Chrome to give it a try now."
