Opera sings a fine tune
While the world focuses on the ongoing browser war between Internet Explorer and Firefox, another company, Opera Software, quietly turns out better and better versions of its browser. And yesterday the company released version 9.5 of its software with a host of features that make it a compelling alternative to the main players.
Opera 9.5 includes Opera Link, a synchronisation service that can be used to share information between Opera 9.5 desktop and Opera Mini, the lightweight PDA version of the browser. Using Link, users can synchronise bookmarks, Speed Dial settings and even notes taken between the two platforms.
Making it easier to find things, Opera Quick Find makes it easy to recall information that you’ve seen during browsing. If you can remember a word from a page, enter it in the address bar to find matching text from any page you have visited.
Opera 9.5 also sports a clean new interface and includes malware protection backed by Haute Secure, Netcraft, and PhishTank. Opera’s Fraud Protection technology automatically blocks offending Web pages.
All of the old Opera favourites are also still in place including the strict web standards adherence, Speed Dial for your favourite sites and note taking.

Opera 9.5 is available for Linux, Mac and PC computers and ships in more than 30 languages.
